Company History

Founded in 1949 by Sk. Zilloo as Sk. Zilloo & Co., later renamed Ismail Stores Supply, the company was established to provide reliable, high-quality ship provisions in Indian ports.

Today, with over 75 years of experience, 350+ annual supplies, and the expertise of Md. Ismail and Md. Gani, we deliver comprehensive ship procurement solutions to leading vessel owners and operators across India's major ports.

Our Story

Three generations. One promise. Built on trust.

1949 — A humble beginning
Sk Zilloo arrived in Kolkata with little more than determination and a willingness to work. He founded Sk Zilloo & Co., beginning with a single vessel a month, supplying provisions and bonded stores to ships calling at the Port of Kolkata. What started as one man's search for livelihood quietly became the foundation of something lasting.
1980 — The second generation takes the helm
At just 22 years old, Md Ismail inherited his father's business and his father's values. He did not inherit a large company — he inherited trust. As clients grew to rely on him, they began asking for more. Responding to their confidence in him, Md Ismail expanded operations beyond Kolkata to ports across West Bengal, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh, and added ship stores to the company's offerings alongside provisions and bonded supplies.
1998 — A new name, the same family
To reflect the growth of the business and the identity of the man who had shaped it, the company was renamed Ismail Stores Supply. The name changed. The commitment did not.
2000s — Becoming a leading name on the East Coast
Through the 2000s, Ismail Stores Supply grew to become one of the most trusted ship chandlers across the entire East Coast of India. Not through advertising or aggressive expansion, but through something more enduring — clients who trusted us enough to come back, and to bring others with them.
2019 — The third generation, and a new horizon
Md Gani, Md Ismail's son and a qualified mechanical engineer, joined the business and extended operations across all of India. Once again, the expansion was not planned in a boardroom — it came from clients who trusted the Ismail Stores Supply name and wanted us present wherever their vessels called.
2020 — ISO 9001 certified
A formal recognition of what we had always practised — consistent, documented, accountable service on every order.
2023 — IMPA membership
We joined the International Marine Purchasing Association, aligning ourselves with the global standards that the world's leading shipping companies expect from their suppliers.
Tomorrow — Spare parts, made simple
Our next chapter is already taking shape. We are building the capability to supply spare parts with the same reliability, transparency, and speed that our clients have come to expect from everything else we do. Because the sea does not wait, and neither should you.
